“Jade & Fate —— Highlights of the Jade of Liangzhu Culture”, presented by Xuzhou Museum and Chiangnan Water Region Culture Museum of China, was opened to the public in Xuzhou Museum in 13th September, 2013.
The culture of Jade in China has a long history. The specific jade culture called material, society and spirit three-in-one has been appeared in the Hemudu Culture, Hongshan Culture and Yellow River Basin. Especially, 5000 years ago, in the northern bank of Qiantang River and the margin of Taihu, the ancestors in Liangzhu stepped off savagery and wild and strode forward civilization. They created the famous Liangzhu Culture, a new age.
The jade articles of Liangzhu Culture were the essence of the material and spirit culture created by these ancestors, and arrived the peak of jade culture in prehistoric age. The jade article of Liangzhu Culture present a splendid sight: unique shapes and exquisite patterns. This exhibition includes about 100 jade articles and displays the consummation and holy of jade article of Liangzhu Culture.
Xuzhou was called Pengcheng in ancient time and was the origin of Han Culture. Xuzhou has a long history and the famous historic and cultural city. Corresponding to the Liangzhu Culture, Xuzhou Xinyi Huating sites has some jade articles of neolithic period. In addition, the jade articles of Han Dynasty continued the development of ancient jade articles.
The exquisite jade articles link the Liangzhu and Xuzhou together. We believe that this exhibition will give the audience a shock and also the new age of culture communication.
