Preface
Golden autumn is the season of fruitful achievements. "The exhibition of Yuan Ye's black purple clay tea ware" is exhibited in Xuzhou Museum, which is the pride of Xuzhou people and also full of Yuan Ye's strong feelings of home and country!
There are more than 350000 ancient ceramic wares in the Palace Museum, including nearly 400 Yixing purple clay wares, but the number of black purple clay wares is very precious.
Many people may have heard the term "black purple clay" for the first time, because it is indeed rare. Black, always loved by the royal family, was used by the royal family in the Xia and Qin Dynasties. It was also used in the early Han Dynasty to show the orthodoxy. Black purple clay is made by high-temperature which was accidentally obtained in Yixing kiln during Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is not only dark in appearance, but also dark in section. In addition, some Japanese institutions have some collections. These black purple clay wares were all paid to the court in the Ming and Qing Dynasties for the use of the royal family, which was rarely seen by the normal citizens. The scarcity of black purple clay and the contingency of firing technology made it completely disappear in people's vision in the late Qing Dynasty. It is gratifying that a group of artists with pursuit are trying to re burn the famous ancient kilns and glazes, and have some innovation in technology. They are the people who really inherit and carry forward the excellent ancient Chinese culture. Mr. Yuan Ye is one of their outstanding representatives. Mr. Yuan Ye is a painting artist. Because of his love for purple clay ware, he began to study and explore its lost technology more than ten years ago. Especially for black purple clay ware, he has become obsessed with it. Kung Fu is not inferior to hard-working people. After ten years of exploration, Mr. Yuan Ye finally recovered the long lost formula and firing process of black and purple clay. In 2015, he used Zisha mud to burn black Zisha pots and other utensils in Yixing with a high temperature of 1300 ℃ and an ancient technology. These black and purple clay works of art are restoration and innovation in inheritance and absorption. This book is the collection of the classic works of Yuan Ye's re burning black purple clay ware. Through this book, we can let more people go into the black purple clay, understand it and enjoy it. We can also let more people see that there are many excellent artists who are quietly working hard to restore the traditional craft.
The Palace Museum is a museum with 1.86 million collections. Each of them is a collection, which is worth us to dig the story behind them, study their craft, and appreciate their unique beauty. There are many practitioners who restore traditional crafts in our country, and there are many researchers of cultural relics in the Palace Museum. In a sense, it is such a combination. Today, black purple clay is on display in Xuzhou Museum, which is of great significance. One is Mr. Yuan Ye's hometown. This is the birthplace of Chinese culture! I wish the exhibition a success.
