Volunteers are the link between the museum and the public. The volunteers' willingness, initiative and enthusiasm have virtually enhanced the image of the museum. Explaining is an important part of volunteers' daily work. To build an excellent volunteer interpretation team, systematic and effective training is the key. On the morning of April 15, a volunteer interpretation training themed "Interpretation Skills and Art" was held in Xuzhou Museum.
The lecture was given by Chen Zhao, an associate researcher of Xuzhou Museum. Mr. Chen pointed out that the museum interpretation work is a combination of eloquence and wisdom, and an excellent museum interpreter needs to integrate screenwriter, director and actor. In the process of explanation, we must adhere to the principle of "telling without making", only tell the facts, not making up, and always pay attention to the echo and logical relationship of the explanation. He also summarized the misunderstanding of the museum's interpretation work based on his years of experience in interpretation work. Chen Zhao encouraged volunteers to "read thousands of books and travel thousands of miles", strive to enrich their knowledge reserves, widely collect different views for the audience, and make appropriate explanations through thinking. The nearly two-hour lecture, rigorous and humorous, relaxed and profound, made the volunteers applaud warmly. At the end of the lecture, Chen Zhao also interacted with the volunteers on the spot.
In 2018, Xuzhou Museum will develop a systematic training plan and regularly hold special training according to the different job division and service content of volunteers. Enhance volunteers' awareness of cultural relics and history and public services in museums, help them understand the new developments of museums and volunteer services in a timely manner, and comprehensively improve volunteer service skills.
