Tiechashan Tombs
Tiechashan Tombs is located in the Tiechashan Mountain which is in the north of Tongshan Road, Yunlong District. Due to the real estate development, Xuzhou Museum did 4 times salvage excavation in 2005, 2008-2009, 2012 and 2015. We totally found 74 tombs and unearthed 1000 pieces of cultural relics.
The 74 tombs distribute in the eastern, southern, and western slope in Tiechashan Mountain and have the following characteristics: firstly, tomb focus and group tombs; secondly, plentiful style almost including all the kind of stone-pit tombs of Western Han Dynasty; thirdly, plentiful mode, including single tomb, couple tomb, tri-body tomb, four-body tomb and once burial, twice burials; fourthly, large time span, sustaining from early Western Han Dynasty to Wangmang period.
This is a vertical stone pit tomb with the stone outer coffin. Due to the twice burials, this tomb is a double-deck tomb. The distance from upper coffin to the edge of the stone pit is 2.6m, and there were two lacquered wooden coffins side by side from south to north, because we can see the clear trace of the coffins. The distance from bottom coffins to the edge of the stone pit is 4.2m and there were two stone outer coffins side by side from east to west. All the outer coffin were built by long-striped flagstone with the same shape and size. We can see some picture engraving by shade line on the flagstone. According to the mode of coffins and the 40 burial objects, we know that the time of bottom coffins is early Western Han Dynasty and the time of upper coffins is later than the bottom ones.
