The 2018 Opening Ceremony of International Museum Day Jiangsu Promotion Activities was Held in Xuzhou Museum

      On May 16, 2018, the opening ceremony of“5?18 International Museum Day”Jiangsu promotion activities,sponsored by culture department of Jiangsu province and the people's government of Xuzhou, was held in Xuzhou museum. Leaders and guests from culture department of Jiangsu province, people's government of Xuzhou and Xuzhou culture, television and radio bureau, culture department of directly administered counties of Jiangsu province, related museums, paper writers on the forum of International Museum Day, journalists from news media and officials of Xuzhou cultural relics and museum system attended the opening ceremony.

      Li yan, deputy mayor of Xuzhou municipal government, and Wu Xiaolin, deputy director of culture department of Jiangsu province and director of cultural relics bureau of Jiangsu province, delivered speeches respectively. At the opening ceremony, the culture department of Jiangsu province released six exhibition promotion theme projects "Promoting Excellent Traditional Culture and Cultivating Socialist core values" in 2018, and awarded certificates to 20 institutions selected for the 2017 Jiangsu provincial museum education model project. Xuzhou museum signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jiangsu phoenix publishing and art grope, and set up the “Xuzhou center of Jiangsu phoenix publishing and art group".

      After the opening ceremony, the leaders and guests visited two exhibitions that Xuzhou museum just opened on the same day. Tour exhibition project of cultural relics collection of Jiangsu province "Ancient Warriors and Figurines——Special Exhibition of Xuzhou Museum Terracotta Warriors and Figurines Collection" exhibited some fine works of the cultural relics selected from the terracotta warriors and figurines collection. Jiangsu province theme exhibition promotion project "Remembering History ? Forging Ahead —— Special Exhibition of Documents on the 80th Anniversary of the enemy occupied day of Xuzhou", by presenting a large number of precious valuable pictures and cultural relics, comprehensively shows the historic contributions of Xuzhou in fighting against  the Japanese War, which promotes the great spirit of patriotism.

      After the visit, a theme forum of "Hyperconnected museums :New approaches,new publics" was held in the academic lecture hall of Xuzhou museum. The six paper writers from Xuzhou museum, Suzhou museum, Wuxi museum, Huai 'an museum and Dongtai county museum combined the themes respectively and conducted theoretical discussion and experience exchange in the fields of management, service, education, information, promotion and technology.

      With a history of more than 40 years, the International Day of Museums was set up by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The activities of 2018 International Day of Museums will take the theme “Hyperconnected museums :New approaches,new publics”,released by the International Council of Museums, as its core. The museums in Jiangsu will hold a variety of promotion activities in different forms. According to the preliminary statistics, 282 activities will be held during this period, including 93 exhibitions and 189 social education activities ( public welfare lectures, intangible cultural heritage exhibition and social education experience).
