The splendid traditional Chinese culture contains the deepest spirit pursuits and roots, which define the unique qualities of the Chinese Nation. Xuzhou Museum has implemented the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and undertaken the cultural mandate. It brought the splendid traditional Chinese culture in diversified forms to school, which has enriched the spiritual and cultural life of teenagers.
As a famous modern Chinese educator said, a country will be intelligent only when its teenagers are intelligent; a country will be strong only when its teenagers are strong. The Social Service Department of Xuzhou Museum devised a series of social education programs for teenagers, and created complete courses on traditional culture, in order to inspire children's soul with excellent culture, guide children's thoughts with national culture, and grow cultural confidence in children's hearts! The theme of this traditional culture program was "Food and Wares of Ancients". Zhang Yidan, an instructor from the Social Service Department of Xuzhou Museum, entered the two key schools - Xuzhou Qingnian Road Primary School and Xuzhou Damalu Primary School Ecological Garden Campus, on Nov. 9 and Nov. 30, respectively.
The mixed rounds of stories about cultural relics, documentary films, role experiences, and award-winning buzz led the children throughout the Chinese history. On site, the students were in high spirits. The activities have brought students a cultural feast, by giving them a full understanding of the Chinese saying "Food is of primary importance to people", the profound culture of Chinese cuisine, the survival wisdom and spiritual disposition that lie in food and wares.
In addition, "integrated development" has been a philosophy introduced by Xuzhou Museum in recent years. Xuzhou Museum tries innovative development in social education services, by sharing driving forces, cooperating with an open mind, and pursuing multi-win in interactions. In this year, Xuzhou Museum has organized a series of cross-boundary activities in schools, integrating forces from cultural exhibition departments, educational administrations, newspaper institutions, news press and publishing divisions, as well as departments of the museum. These activities allowed the museum's education program to break the barriers, and find its root in schools in a "mobile" model.
As Xuzhou Museum continued to carry out school activities this year, we have won word of mouth from students and schools, obtained a large group of big fans, and increased social benefits. Just as a museum is a school, a school is also a museum. The future museum-school cooperation will be more normalized, precise and individualized. We will continue to adhere to the philosophy that "Cultural confidence should start from children", make real efforts in telling stories about cultural relics, act as cultural ambassadors, and help teenagers gain cultural confidence with the influence of spiritual culture.
