On Nov. 17th, 2017, Bai Yunxiang, the former deputy director and research fellow from the Institute of Archaeology CASS, was invited to make an academic report titled "Epoch Characteristics and Historical Status of Bronze Ware in Qin and Han Dynasties" in Xuzhou Museum. More than 100 attendants were in this academic activity, including staff of Xuzhou's cultural exhibition units, students of cultural exhibition in Xuzhou's universities and colleges, and amateurs in cultural exhibition.
First, Mr. Bai Yunxiang narrated Chinese bronze history. Next, he elaborated on the epoch characteristics of bronze ware in Qin and Han dynasties, in their types, forms and functions. He thought the bronze ware in Qin and Han dynasties changed in the following ways: in structure, they transformed from sacrificial vessels and chariot and horses appliances to utility tools, with their functions accessible to daily life; in utility, they went from aristocrats to civilians; in style, they highly integrated utility with artistry, and realism with romanticism; in craftsmanship, they represented diversification and multifunction; in production and operation, a pattern of both official and private operations was developed. Finally, Mr. Bai Yunxiang discussed the historical status of Chinese bronze ware in Qin and Han dynasties from their significance in Qin and Han civilization as well as in Chinese bronze history.
After the closing of lecture, Mr. Bai Yunxiang made on-site interactions with the audience.
