On Sep. 18th, 2017, the opening ceremony of training class on Han Dynasty jade authenticating and distinguishing for professionals in national cultural museum system was held in the lecture hall of Xuzhou Museum. The training class was sponsored by China Cultural Heritage Information and Consulting Center, and organized by Xuzhou Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication, and Xuzhou Museum. Li Yan, Deputy Mayor of the People's Government of Xuzhou City, addressed the ceremony, and Liang Gang, Party Secretary of China Cultural Heritage Information and Consulting Center, delivered a speech. Gao Chengfu and Han Feng, director and deputy director of Xuzhou Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication, attended the opening ceremony.
In her address, deputy mayor Li Yan indicated that Xuzhou, as the center of Huaihai Economic Zone, has focused on the construction of "one center, one base, one highland", "four centers", and "five cities"; made full efforts in promoting industrial transformation, urban construction, ecological upgrading and improvement of people's livelihood; and explored a unique approach of transformation and revitalization of old industrial bases. The city's main economic indicators have been higher than the provincial and national levels for 10 consecutive years, and its total economic output has retained top 5 in the provincial rankings. As the origin of Han Dynasty culture, Xuzhou boasts abundant heritage in the Han Dynasty, and has made its Han Dynasty jade an important signal of Han culture. This year, especially, a series of outreach exhibitions with "Han jade" as boutique heritage representing Xuzhou's Han Dynasty culture were held in cities such as New York, San Francisco, and Berlin. These exhibitions have generated huge response, and further enhanced the brand influence and urban culture competitiveness of Xuzhou's Han Dynasty culture. This training class on Han Dynasty jade authenticating and distinguishing has provided an opportunity for professionals in national cultural museum system to learn from and exchange with each other and improve vocational level.
Liang Gang, Party Secretary of China Cultural Heritage Information and Consulting Center, introduced a series of training events organized in national cultural museum system by China Cultural Heritage Information and Consulting Center, which fully functioned as a training and demonstration base of cultural museum talents for National Cultural Heritage Administration, and contributed to promoting the team building of cultural museum talents and the development of cultural museum undertakings. Held in Xuzhou, this training class was fully supported by the People's Government of Xuzhou City, Xuzhou Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication, and Xuzhou Museum. Besides, it benefited from the various types, high quality, and large quantity of jade in Xuzhou, which is rarely seen in other parts of China. Party Secretary Liang Gang hoped the trainees would take this opportunity to improve themselves and put the knowledge into practice. Meanwhile, he proposed the following four requirements. First, listen carefully, think actively, and sum up, which help improve your level of authenticating and making research. Second, make full use of this opportunity to exchange views with colleagues from other parts of the country. Third, strictly follow the rules, reinforce attendance checking system, and enhance relative organization and service. Fourth, share expertise and experiences with your peers and the public, adhere to professional ethics, and never give up the principle to interests.
Fifty-eight professionals in the cultural museum system from 22 provinces participated in the training class. All the trainers are experts and scholars of Han Dynasty jade research in cultural museum system. The theory training courses included types of Han Dynasty jade, philosophy on using jade in the Han Dynasty, Han Dynasty jade authentication, research on jade micro-scratches, etc. In addition, trainees will be organized to appreciate jade samples and visit the ancient jade imitation workshop in Xuzhou Museum, which will help them combine theory with practice and improve their authenticating and distinguishing capabilities.
