Farewell to the old time and welcome the New Year’s Day
The volunteers worked together with the students to cut the Huahuang( yellow ornament petals worn on the forehead by women) provided by the museum and pasted it on their forehead. Looking through the shiny bronze mirror, reading the beautiful picture books and enjoying the yellow flowers on their forehead, the children all showed their sweet smiles.
Finally, the students watched the jade clothes unearthed from the tomb of the king of Chu in Shizishan mountain, the treasure of Xuzhou Museum. Everyone listened to the volunteer attentively, carefully watched the cultural relics, and silently recorded what we saw, heard and thought. This activity enabled students to understand the long history of their hometown Xuzhou and the bright culture of the Han Dynasty, aroused students' love and interest in the in-depth exploration of Chinese culture, broadened their horizons and enjoyed a different New Year's Day.
On the afternoon of December 31, 2019, the teachers and students of Xuzhou Xingguang Primary School visited the Xuzhou Museum in order to enrich the after-school life of the students, let them directly understand the splendid culture of the Chinese people and the long history of their hometown Xuzhou, and establish the historical pride and culture self-confidence.
After came to the museum by buses, the students were warmly received by the staff of Xuzhou Museum. Mr. Zhang Hui, deputy director of the social service department, gave the students a lesson on the theme of cultural relics. Combined with the study of the picture book, Mr. Zhang explained the development process, casting method and use method of ancient bronze mirrors in China, and showed the real objects of several antique bronze mirrors. Students have a knowledge of the casting, decoration, inscriptions and uses of ancient Chinese bronze mirrors, as well as their aesthetic ability of cultural relics.
Later, the students followed Mr. Hao Xinyao to the general history exhibition hall on the first floor of the museum. As an explanation volunteer of Xuzhou Museum, he explained the story behind the ancient prose on the screen of the general history exhibition hall with accumulated experience in cultural relics and history explanation . After that, Mr. Hao led the students to recite the ancient prose with rich feelings. The young but passionate chanting showed the children's love for the motherland and hometown, and also pushed the activity to the climax.
