Located in the northwest of Germany, Krefeld is an important port city on the Rhine river. Historically, Krefeld was an important node city on the Silk Road. On July 6, 2012, Xuzhou and Krefeld became friendly exchange cities, and the two sides carried out close exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, science and technology. Since 2011, Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG) has established a wholly-owned holding company FT in Krefeld city, and invested in the construction of XCMG Europe headquarters, XCMG European R&R center and XCMG European procurement center
Krefeld museum is one which collects cultural relics of ancient Rome. In the process of its development, it has participated in the excavation of more than 6,500 ancient Roman tombs, and built a rich collection of cultural relics system, among which pottery, glass, bronze and weapons are very distinctive, and have a deep influence in Germany and even in Europe.
With the talks coincided with the “One Belt One Road” Initiative, the two sides attach great importance to this cooperation to further promote the "mutual learning and exchanges of civilization". They will be positioned highly on the municipal cultural exchanges between the two sides, and strive to make the exhibition a high-quality and high-standard cultural exchange program, which makes contributions to the promotion of the national "One Belt And One Road" strategy.
