On June 4, 2019, the seminar on the protection of paper cultural relics and the application of micro nano plasma paper deacidification technology was held in Xuzhou Museum. Professor Zhang Xiwen, doctoral supervisor of the Department of materials science and engineering of Zhejiang University, was invited to give a keynote speech. By analyzing the acidification status of books, paintings, scriptures, documents, precious works of art and other paper cultural relics in museums, archives and libraries, Professor Zhang introduced the protection of paper cultural relics and the micro nano plasma paper deacidification technology, and introduced the paper deacidification and reinforcement methods in detail.
The professional technicians of Xuzhou cultural and Museum institutions and relevant colleges and universities discussed the reasons for the damage of paper-based cultural relics, the protection methods, and how the traditional protection technology can be organically combined with modern science and technology. Experts at the conference agreed that the history of the Chinese nation has been carrying the connotation and essence of the Chinese civilization for thousands of years. Strengthening the protection is imperative. We should sum up our experience, draw lessons from it, and look forward to the future, so that this strong cultural heritage can be better preserved.
