Following the Footsteps of "Princess of Relief" -- Xuzhou Museum's Fine Cultural Relics of Han dynasty Went to the "Western Regions"

To actively respond to “One Belt One Road Initiative”, strengthen the cultural exchanges between the mainland and Xinjiang, enlarge the influence of Xuzhou Han culture, Xuzhou museum, actively making a connection with Han dynasty princess "Liu Jieyou", who is a princess of the state of Chu and got married in Wusun, and relying on the fine Han dynasty cultural relics, worked together with Xnjiang Uygur autonomous region museum to plan an organization, "Hometown of the Princess of Relief -- Xuzhou Han Dynasty Fine Cultural Relics Exhibition of the State of Chu." Xuzhou museum selected 83 groups (117 pieces) of cultural relics to display the historical and cultural features of the West Han and the state of Chu, the hometown of the princess.

Xuzhou, called Pengcheng in ancient times, is the hometown of the princess of relief. The ancestor of the princess is Liubang's younger brother, and her grandfather is the third generation of the king of Chu, Liuwu. In the spring of the third year of emperor Jingdi, Liuwu participated in the "Rebellion of the Seven Kingdoms" and was defeated and killed. Xinjiang was called western region in Han dynasty. There were many tribes in that area, of which Wusun was the most powerful. Out of strategic need, emperor Wudi of Han dynasty carried out the policy of confederation by marriage, hoping to unite Wusun to fight against Xiongnu group. First emperor Wudi sent Jiangdu king Liujian's daughter Liu Xijun to marry with Wusun Kunmi, but shortly she died. In order to consolidate the political alliance between Han and Wusun, Wusun sent envoys to Han court for peace-making marriage. In the first four years of the reign of emperor Wudi (101 BC), he chose Jieyou as the princess and married Wusun Kunmi as his wife. She shouldered the heavy responsibility of developing and consolidating the western regions of Han dynasty and left a legacy for the history of West Han dynasty.

This exhibition is divided into five units: peace-making marriage, capital, troop training, luxury utensil and the dream of eternal life. In addition to the exhibition of cultural relics reflecting burial custom of Han dynasty, such as "Jade clothes", "jade pillow" and others, there are also seal other things that can reflect official system of Han dynasty the, seal. There are "terracotta warriors and horses of Han dynasty" that not only show the troops of the Chu kingdom, but also show the social life of the Han dynasty.
Once the exhibition is launched, its bright theme and rich traditional cultural connotation attracted and beloved by the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, as they directly experienced the history and culture of the Chu kingdom in Han dynasty, and appreciated the prosperous hometown of the princess.
