"Forum of Xuzhou Museum" Phase 18:"The First Chinese Geologist of Ancient Earth——Mr. Lu Xun and Fossils"

      Introduction:

      Brief introduction of lecture content:

      This lecture will introduce Mr. Lu Xun's contributions to contemporary geology in China, such as writing the first geological paper and book in China, using and explaining the meaning of "geology", translating geological names as "Jurassic" and "Cretaceous" in Chinese. In addition, Mr. Lu also explained the concept of "fossils", creating familiar terms such as "ape-man" and "dinosaur" in Chinese.

      Combined with the fossils found in Xuzhou Yunlong Mountain, the lecture will talk about the formation and use of fossils, "living fossils", dinosaur eggs and cultural relics. Finally, the latest viewpoint of the mystery of the extinction of dinosaurs will be introduced. Through the introduction of innovative findings in geology and paleontology by Lu Xun and Li Siguang, people's creative ideas and spirit will be stimulated.

This time, Mr. Zhuang Shouqiang, the director of the Creativity Teaching and Research Center of China University of Mining and Technology and a professor of geology, will be invited here to tell us about interesting paleontology fossils, so stay tuned!

      1962-1967 Study of paleontology in the Department of Geology, Nanjing University

      1968——1978 Geological Research Institute of Qinghai Petroleum Bureau, paleontological petroleum exploration

     1978-1982 Postgraduate study of paleontology in the Department of Geology, Nanjing University

      1982-2006 (retired) China University of Mining and Technology (promoted to professor of geology in 1993)

      Since his retirement in 2006, he has conducted research on "geological creation" and "geological tourism". He has published more than 190 papers and 18 books.
