            Introduction:

Chen Zhao, a librarian in Xuzhou Museum, will give a special lecture on the culture of "Black Thunderbolt - The Age of Firearms and Cold Weapons" in the academic lecture hall of the Xuzhou Museum at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, as part of a youth education campaign called "Tracing  out the Ancient Pengcheng."

Of the four major inventions in China, gunpowder has the greatest impact on the history of human wars and killings. The use of gunpowder in the military field is the most important innovation in the history of war. When gunpowder was combined with manufacturing processes and appeared in the form of guns, the mode of war that has lasted for thousands of years since ancient times has been completely changed.

The combined use of firearms and cold soldiers should be from the simple firearms that appeared in the Northern Song Dynasty to the middle of the Qing Dynasty, which lasted about 9 centuries. In 1259, the earliest tube-shaped firearm, the flare gun, was produced. This was the first successful attempt to fire projectiles with chemical energy, and it was also an important step in the history of early firearm development.

In the Ming Dynasty, firelocks began to enter the battle. The firearms have greatly improved compared to the past. Even the rockets have improved over the past.

Since the Qing Dynasty, the use of firearms in China has begun to take a big step backwards. So much so that in the face of an 1000 or 20000 of invading army, the grand powers were on the verge of death.

The metal tubular firearms appeared in Europe before 1330. By the end of the 14th century, artillery and firelock had enter the battle in all European countries.

This lecture covers rich firearms knowledge and historic events, as well as a large number of exquisite photographs, line drawings, pictures and text, and informative information.

Another highlight of this lecture is the selection of a large number of high-precision video materials. It can make the audience have a more intuitive understanding of the war and weapons in the cold weapon era.
