—— Sermon for Maricari
Religion is a vital source of ancient Egyptian civilization and it plays an important role in its society. The spiritual world and belief system of ancient Egyptians were based on god. They believed that man, god and nature lived in harmony, and the activities between god and man could influence and interact with each other. Therefore, all forces in nature were endowed with divine color and could convey eternal mysterious messages. In order to obtain the protection of the gods, they built temples and held various kinds of activities for sacrifice. In addition, they believed that most gods were still functioning in the underworld, and that the dead could get reborn through god's judgment.
The ancient Egyptians believed in polytheism and worshiped more than 2,000 gods, among which Amun, Aten, Isis and Horus were the most important. In ancient Egypt, different gods had different roles and functions. They could not only keep the country running, but also bless the harvest and ensure the health and safety of family members. Among them, the God of Sun Ra and the God of the Underworld Osiris have the highest status, and the belief of the Egyptians in their gods embodied their love for this world and their desire for an afterlife.
This course will introduce you to the gods of ancient Egypt, explore people's religious beliefs at that time, and compare the gods of Kunlun to feel different cultural charms
