This jade ring is a lingt yellowish-green jade, carved in an openwork style with a phoenix(on the left of the image), a bear (on the right) and a dragon (at the bottom). The ring belonged to the Queen of Chu and was excavated form the M2 tomb at Dongdongshan. The exaggerated designs emerging from the bodies of these 3 animal are similar in design to the dragon and phoenix on the jade disc from the King of Nanyue’s tomb . This style of carving may have been widely used shared by artists in these 2 kingdoms. A jade ring of tihs size was usually used as a part of a pendant.
