Xue Yu (1715-?), whose courtesy name was Lvqiao, is unknown for his place of origin. In this painting, the artist depicts the poetic conception of "fishing alone on the cold river" in Liu Zongyuan's poem with finger ink. He inherits the technique of Gao Qipei, and even creates a higher style. According to the inscription, the painter should be born in 1715.
