Mei Qing (1623-1679), whose courtesy name was Yuangong and pseudonym was Qushan, was native of Xuancheng, Anhui. He loved painting the great view of Mount Huang, and was renowned as a member of Mount Huang painting school. This painting depicts a sail on the waters of Dongxi in vigorous and smooth ink. It is one of the unique works of Mei Qing.
