Jin Nong (1687-1764), whose courtesy name was Shoumen and pseudonym was Dongxin, was native of Renhe (today's Hangzhou, Zhejiang). As one of "Eight Eccentric Artists of Yangzhou", he was proficient in appreciation and collection, and was engaged in calligraphy and painting. This Scroll Painting of Plum Blossoms was created with gold paint on the magnetic black paper, which is neither gluey nor oily, and with simple strokes. Poems were inscribed in "painting script" by Jin Nong. It is confirmed by cognoscentes as an authentic work of Jin Nong.
