The casted seal has a bridge-shaped knob and a squarish stamp quad. The impression of seal is "Chu Hou Zhi Yin" in seal character, meaning "the seal of Chu's marquis". A Chu's marquis is the low-rank direct general in Chu's army. According toZhi Lv, the laws and decrees for official ranks, marquis is equal to a county director. There are nearly a hundred "Chu Hou Zhi Yin" unearthed from Kings of Chu Tombs in Western Han Dynasty, Lion Mountain, Xuzhou. It represents the enormous military force of Chu Kingdom at that time.
