There are two kinds of figurines, male and female. The female is "Qianqiu", with round face, plump body, wings on her back and hooves on her feet; she is wearing a broad sleeved garment and her hands are arched in front of her chest, which are cloven hooves. "The bird of a thousand years old, the bird of a thousand years old, dressed the body of the bird in cotton as if a human being, looks like a beast just as its name," said Ge Hong in the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
