Excavated from the fourth room in the western part of the Tomb of the King of Chu, the Jude dagger is made from Hetian bluish white jade with fine texture and mild colour. With a 0.35- centimetre-thick edge, the jade dagger has a short flat edge and a long curve-shaped edge with thorn on it. There is a 0.9-length triangle hole on the stick except for three small holes on the right part of the dagger. The double lines inside the edge form a frame in which carves many small S-shaped patterns. The other parts are shaped with 4 big S-shaped patterns. Under the flat and curve-shaped edges lies a ferocious tiger pattern with big mouth, sharp teeth, fat face, slender waist, three feathers on the back and tail curved, which looks like a “S” shape and a running one. The patterns of the two sides of the main part are the same, but it also has differences on the other parts. On the one side curved a U-shaped tiger with a open mouth and sharp teeth, and on the other side is a Suzaku pattern with its head up, feather tilted, mouth open, tail down and paws up. Due to its stylish shape, fine decorations and lively animal patterns, this jade dagger can be regarded as an excellent work in jade arts of West Han dynasty.
